Accessibility

How we make our website accessible, how we test it, the issues we know about, and how to tell us about a problem.

We build websites that work for everyone, including people who use assistive technology, and we hold our own website to the same standard.

Our commitment

We aim for our website to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2(Opens in a new tab/window) at Level AA. It is built on CivicTheme, the open-source design system for government that we build and maintain as a subcontractor to Salsa Digital. CivicTheme's components are assessed to WCAG 2.1 Level AA.

How we test

We check the main page templates of this website with:

  • automated tests using axe-core against WCAG 2.2 Level A and AA
  • keyboard checks: every page opens with a skip link, focus moves in a logical order, and the focused element is always visible
  • reflow checks: every page works at 320 pixels wide without scrolling sideways
  • structure checks: 1 main heading per page, text alternatives for images, and labelled form fields

Tell us about a problem

If something on our website is hard to use, please tell us at [email protected]. We will reply within 5 business days, and in the meantime we will help you get the information you need another way.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Australian Human Rights Commission(Opens in a new tab/window).

Accessibility in our client work

Accessibility is part of how we build every website. Our delivery pipeline runs automated accessibility checks on every change, and we offer accessibility audits against WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Talk to us about yours.
