Brand & Design

We design brands and interfaces, and because the same team builds afterwards, what gets designed is what goes live. Identity work is delivered as a brand book your team can actually use.

What we design

3 kinds of work, sold on their own or composed into one engagement.

  • Identity. Logo concepts, colour palette, type system, brand elements, and the applications the brand lives on. Delivered as a brand book.
  • UX. User research, journeys and flows, sitemap, content model, and an annotated information architecture.
  • UI. High-fidelity screen design with responsive and interaction states, and original art direction where there is no system to draw from.

We design and then build, so the thing that ships is the thing that was approved, down to the spacing and the interaction states.

The brand book

Identity work is delivered as a brand book covering the brand platform, the logo system, colour, typography, brand elements, voice and tone, the applications the brand lives on, the do's and don'ts, and governance.

It is one self-contained web page with its assets and typefaces sitting beside it. That has some practical consequences worth stating plainly:

  • It opens on any machine, from any folder, offline. Every typeface and image travels inside the folder, so it renders in its real brand faces on a plane and in 5 years.
  • It prints itself. Open it, press print, and the walk-through unrolls into the full linear book as a PDF, so the screen version and the paper version stay one document.
  • You own the folder outright. Host it, email it, put it on your intranet, or leave it where it is. It is yours to keep and yours to move.

You can walk through ours: the DrevOps brand book is the same artifact a client receives, built by the same tooling.

How the identity work runs

Identity is a choice made in front of real work, never from a mood board.

  1. We capture or design the palette, the typefaces and the mark.
  2. We build 5 complete directions - the whole brand book, every section, in 5 different treatments. 5 books you can open and read end to end.
  3. You pick one. Then you pick a cover for it, again as complete books rather than mockups.
  4. The chosen direction becomes the canonical brand book and you get the folder.

Seeing a direction as a finished book is the point. A palette that looks confident on a swatch card behaves differently across a whole book of real content, and that is much cheaper to learn before the choice than after it.

How it is priced

A fixed fee per component, composed to the engagement. You pick the pieces you need and the quote is the sum of them, so the shape of the work is visible before it starts.

Each component carries its refinement rounds in the price. Rounds beyond those are a stated amount per round, agreed up front, so a longer conversation about the logo never turns into an open-ended bill.

Two things shape the number. Brand identity designs a new brand and includes the logo; brand capture documents an identity you already have into the same book, and the two differ entirely in whether the design work is ours. Screen design is counted in key screens - templates and states - because the patterns set there carry across the rest of the site.

You approve scope and cost before work starts, and a fixed-price quote is the price.

Who this is for

  • Organisations that need an identity created, or one that has drifted pulled back into a system.
  • Teams with a brand that lives in one person's head, or in a folder of files nobody can find.
  • Anyone starting a website build who wants the design and the build to be the same conversation.

Where the line sits

We design brands, products and interfaces. Advertising and campaign work - above-the-line creative, media buying, campaign production - sits with the specialists who do it every day.

Design systems belong to the build. Component libraries, token sets and usage documentation are part of the front-end work on a website, where they are used and maintained by the same people.

Start with the brand book

Design stands on its own, or opens a website delivery engagement. Either way the brand book is where the identity ends up.

If your brand lives across a folder of files and you want one place that settles which logo is current, tell us what you have and we will tell you whether it needs capturing or redesigning.
